Volunteer

Hello and thank you for your interest in volunteering at Family Promise!

Every person who volunteers at Family Promise makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our guests. Our motto is "Building community, strengthening lives" because to volunteer here is to be a member of a community; a community of support for our guests that gives them strength and hope.

There are multiple ongoing volunteer needs at Family Promise that require previous experience. However if you are interested in volunteering for us regularly, we request that you participate in a one-time, two hour volunteer training that will equip you with some helpful skills for working with our guests, and give you a deeper understanding of our mission. These trainings are held monthly at varying locations.

At Host Congregations

Every night of the week at 5:00pm, families are transported to one of our host congregations where they will have dinner, spend the evening, sleep, and have breakfast before being transported back to the day center around 6:30 am.

We require that those who wish to volunteer at Host Congregations first participate in one of our monthly volunteer trainings.

"I became involved because I think it is my responsibility as a human being to love and care for others, especially when they are at a critical time in their lives. Family Promise is about love, hospitality and mostly success. It truly is the best thing I have ever been involved with.

-Stacey, Family Promise of Lawrence Volunteer Coordinator
